Bread has been important in Lithuanian cuisine for a long time. It is related to many agricultural rituals; when a married couple comes back from their wedding, they are often met with bread, salt and water. Lithuanians have always respected bread and at one time it was even considered to be holy. If you haven’t already, we recommend that you try the black rye bread; it’s delicious, stays fresh for a long time and you can eat it for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Photo: Bearas.
