Professor, engineer from the Czech Republic visits Klaipeda University 2017-10-23

     On October 26-27, the Faculty of Marine Technologies and Natural Sciences of  Klaipėda  University will be visited, under Erasmus + programme,  by dr. Bohumil Horak, professor and engineer from the Technical University of Ostrava, one of the largest universities in the Czech Republic. Professor Horak is a well-known specialist in the field of management systems and hydrogen technologies who is in charge of a number of scientific and business projects in the design and development of electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles.
 
     During the visit, prof. Horak will get acquainted with the activities of Klaipėda University and its laboratories. Meetings are planned with with the academic staff of the Departments of Engineering and Informatics and Statistics and the Faculty administration with the aim of discussing the possibilities of cooperation.
 
     The visitor will also be provided an opportunity to visit the company UAB Vėjo projektai (Wind Projects) and the developer of a Lithuanian electric city bus UAB Elektrinės transporto sistemos (Electric Transport Systems), as well as the KU research/survey vessel Mintis.  
 
     On October 19,  in the Faculty of Marine Technologies and Natural Sciences, two lectures of professor dr. Bohumil Horak were held: Hydrogen Technologies and their Adaptation to Transport Systems and Robotics and its Development. In his lectures, prof. Horak spoke about the production of hydrogen, its purpose, storage, benefits and utilisation at home and in transport. He was introduced to student projects and to laboratories of research in hydrogen production and  utilisation.  In the lecture on robotics, its origin, development, a variety of robots, and the opportunities of their application were discussed.  
 
     During prof. Horak‘s visit, every afternoon, he invites students for an hour of discussions on the ground floor of the Faculty building in Bijūnų 17 (more detailed information can be found in the Faculty). Students and colleagues are kindly invited to take an active part.
